MISSION STATEMENT

Dear Parents:

Thank you for considering the Dance Academy of Bellevue. Your child is about to enter the magical and joyful world of dance. Our number one goal as teachers is to encourage and develop children's innate love of music and movement.

Due to the short attention span and immature muscles of young dancers, the preschool or pre-ballet classes do not imitate a strict technique class, but focus on developing the skills and habits necessary for a successful first year of dance technique at age 7 or 8. The goals of these classes include:

To develop a sense of musicality and learn to recognize beats and counts
To develop flexibility and strength in feet, legs and back
To learn the structure of a ballet class-stretching, barre, centrework, and across the floor
To listen to instruction, focus and problem solve
To learn a basic vocabulary of ballet terms in French and basic tap skills
To have fun and learn to love to dance!

Our Annual Recital is held in June and all students who want a performance opportunity are encouraged to participate.

Facility: Our colorful and spacious dance rooms are equipped with "floating" floors for the comfort and safety of the student. There are permanently installed barres and mirrors.

Scholarships: A limited number of scholarships are available, either full or partial, and are awarded to students on the basis of class performance and potential. For information, contact school registrar.

Visiting: Parents and friends of students are welcome to observe any time. Due to available space only 2 observers per student.

Dance Academy of Bellevue/Issaquah has been in Bellevue for 45 years and offers the best in dance instruction for children and adults, ages 2-70. All faculty instructors have a professional background and Ms. Carol is a member of Dance Masters of America (an organization of dance teachers who are certified by test to teach).

Creative movement and combination ballet, tap and tumbling classes are offered for tots.

We offer all levels of instruction in Ballet, Tap Jazz, Jazz/Cheer, Hip Hop and Pointe, as well as instruction in Karate.

Registration can be taken anytime with a registration fee of $25.00 to hold a place in class.

TINY TOT CREATIVE CLASSES FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS

By the age of three or four, most children seem to have a special feeling for rhythm, and this is the perfect age to encourage them. Classes are available mornings and afternoons for ages 3 through 5 in tap, pre-ballet and expression.

JAZZ

This is the newest form of the dance and is one of the most exciting of the dance forms. Most dances seen on television and in the movies consist of adaptations of jazz.

BALLET

Ballet training at Dance Academy of Bellevue/Issaquah is training in academic, classical ballet, Pointe, lyrical character composition. Classes are offered in beginning, intermediate and advanced work. Ballet is taught to ages 7 through adult.
